On this day, our Epsom Girls Centenary, we give thanks to you O God
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
(Sing) Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
We are thankful for our Brown Skin.
Descended from voyagers, we are our grandmother’s tears and the vasa our mothers crossed to come here
We are Pasifika, European, Asian and Aotearoa shades of Brown skin- With Hair- Mean Maori Mean, Tongan thick, Fijian frizzy, Samoan straightened, Cook Island curved and Niuean netted. Frangipani fresh off the boats from North, East, West and South Auckland… To come here.
We are Brave.
Long hours of polyfest practices,
Winter mornings of netball, tennis, soccer and rugby
Epic Year 12 vs Year 13 Dragon boat battles
Friday night premier basketball
Yes we are Brave, I mean how can we forget our famous summer school culottes?
Form 3 to 7 now blended into years 9-13 book and digital citizenship
Gatekeepers of our religion, culture and aiga,
Part of this 2000+ strong we belonged
And Brave individuals too we are
We are Bold
Hauling heavy bags in year 9, to holding bouquets for our Epsom sisters’ weddings and hands when losing loved ones
Forget the glass slippers darlin’
